Namewee found with drugs and urine tested positive
Sext Taiwanese influencer Xie You Xin 謝侑芯 passed away suddenly on 22 October 2025 in Malaysia at the age of 31. News of her death was only announced on 30 October 2025. With limited information and news coverage, it was only reported that she had died of a heart attack. Her fans and family were shocked as she had always been fit and could do free dives effortlessly.
Over the weekend, official media in Malaysia followed up on 謝侑芯’s untimely demise, revealing that Malaysian singer/songwriter Namewee was connected with Miss Xie’s death. According to a statement from the police, Miss Xie’s body was found in the room of a luxury hotel. Also inside the hotel room, was Namewee. When searched, they found drugs on Namewee. He was arrested and his urine tested positive for four controlled drugs. On 24 October, Namewee was charged with drug abuse and the possession of illegal drugs. Namewee has denied the allegations and is currently out on bail.
According to an unverified source, Namewee called 999 emergency services from a hotel room at 12.30pm on 22 October 2025. At that time, Miss Xie was already lying unconscious in the room. When responders arrived, Namewee was unable to tell them what happened. He tried to leave but it so happened that the hotel where he and Miss Xie was staying was one of the designated hotels for the 47th Asean Summit. Appearing suspicious, Namewee was stopped by security forces deployed for the event which was to be held in 4 days’ time. They escorted him back into his room and a search was conducted.
He was escorted back to his hotel room where 謝侑芯’s lifeless body was found. First responders revealed that Miss Xie’s nude body was found in the bathroom, but the bathtub and the bathroom floor were dry. Suspicious looking tablets were also found in the room. Namewee reportedly became very anxious, vehemently denying that he had consumed any drugs. According to the statement from Namewee, he and 謝侑芯 had spent a whole night discussing the shooting of a video. He said that 謝侑芯 went into the bathroom to shower but she remained inside after 30 minutes. When he checked on her, he found that her lying motionless in the bathtub. He tried to perform CPR to revive her but failed.
After being released on bail, Namewee lashed out at the “false accusations” telling people to just believe what they want to believe. The truth will be out once the police has completed their investigations. He also criticised the ambulance for taking more than an hour to arrive. The deceased’s manager was quick to respond, pointing out that what he said to the public when Miss Xie passed away last month was completely different from his statement to the police exposed recently, asking him what he was hiding.
